A city of poets
Seen on the New York Press Music Listings of a few weeks back: (I peruse them daily, hem-hem):
Galileo Galilei had alliterate parents…
It's awful ... nevertheless it does move me (and that's even more awful, in case you hadn't noticed).
In case you're wondering what Galileo is doing there, it goes on to say:
…and now, thanks to Philip Glass, his own opera!; BAM Opera House, 7:30 [through 10/5].
The NY music scene certainly has intellectual pretensions. The Fab Faux were on at the Bowery Ballroom, and
Music of the Spheres, "a society for chamber music, philosophy & science," pres. a very civilized concert at NY Society for Ethical Culture, ...
- a small part of a mile-long listing.
